1. Share with my reader who you are
Hi I’m Sarah Tan from Singapore. I am a Work-At-Home-Mum. The main reason is to look after my son, who is now 1 year old. The other reason is I really enjoy working by using my computer. I had been blogging since 2000, and decided to put my interest to use by starting my first business blog in June 2007.
2. What business you are in and what is your website address?
I am an Internet Marketer who focuses on creating video and audio home study courses to coach people on various aspects of Internet Marketing. My latest course is at https://www.ArticleCrankingMachine.com, where I train people how to produce 400 word articles in under 10 minutes, so that you can use the articles to promote your business, your websites, or even events.
Apart from product creation, I also focus on building websites at https://www.WebsiteCrankingMachine.com . I build websites for both people who venture into IM, and also for organizations that want to have an online presence.
3. How does having a website/ blog benefit your business?
Having a website allows me to promote my business. It is like having a sales page, where you educate your potential customers about your product, and at the same time let know how you can help them overcome their challenges. For my website creation site, it also serves as a portfolio.
4. What motivates you to set up your own business?
I really want to succeed and stay at home to look after my son. My grandparents owned a business, and were able to buy property and support all their children with their business. I wish to do the same using my skills with passion.
5. What challenge you did face along the way and how did you overcome it?
I am someone who loves to juggle multiple things, so focusing on something is something I need to do. Also, I decided to focus on my strengths, which is to teach, so I find that product creation is something that comes naturally to me. Picking up other skills to market my product is important also.
To overcome my problems, I learnt from 3 main people, Robert Plank and Lance Tamashiro for many of the skills in my product creation, and John Yeo for my website business.
Robert and Lance have very good systems that allow them to complete a lot of projects. One simple tip is to just focus on 4 tasks every day, and these tasks should lead you to completion of the project.
John is very encouraging and supportive and he is always eager to help people.
6. How do you juggle your time between managing your business and spending time with your family?
I am very glad to have my parents-in-law to help me look after my son while I concentrate on my work. I have also hired 2 staff from The Philippines to help me manage various aspects of my business.
I also schedule time with my son when I bring him for classes and back to my parents’ home.
7. Any other final thing you would love to share with my subscribers?
Success leaves clues, something which I had learnt from Tony Robbins. Go out and get a mentor who would teach you and push you to do things you are uncomfortable with, but necessary in order to take a big step forward. In addition, no man is an island, and always tap on a network of friends and associates to help you with your business.
