Hi everyone,

Christmas is coming and everyone is thronging the shopping malls to get gifts for exchange. But please get the right gift!

A moment ago, one of my friends told me she got a book as a gift for Christmas exchange. She has to return it because the content is scary and not suitable for kids.

Knowing who you are giving to and whether your gift is of the right kind is important.

Similarly in blogging, understanding who you are selling to eventually is important.

Beginning of next year, I am going to create a blog which aims to provide a monthly income of US$10,000/ month, hopefully.

It is just one blog and it is possible.

As mentioned in the post on “Creating Values“, I am going to create a lot of value for this group of customers and I am going to create a community.

When I shared this to my friends, most are skeptical.

“Blogs are for leisure…for us to pass time…for us to vent our inner frustrations…for us to grumble why others are making more money than us.

But I am very sure I can do it. Like a Christmas gift exchange, I need to do two things correctly.

1. Identify the right clients who are always buying
2. Identify their problems and position myself as the solution or the expert.

I believe a blog is very powerful.

It can be an online platform for your fans and customers to get to know more about you and your business.

And with a group of fans and customers, you can basically create a whole range of products and services around it.

Workshops are already very lucrative!

Selling tickets to 200 participants at $20 each can bring you $4000 for that one day.

When you have traffic to the blog, advertisers will want to work with you so as to place their ads in front of your readers’ eyes.

These are just 2 income generation models for blogs and there are a whole list of methods you can apply.

But always remember!

Creating value for your readers always come FIRST!

Do you want to know the shortcut to online success?

I am sure you do my friend. Starting a business online is not as simple as what the salesletter say to be. I hate to tell you this but this is the absolute truth.

There are so many things to learn when you get into this internet marketing stuff. Stuff like list building, traffic generation, product creation and so on and so forth. That is why so many new comers in this market are suffering from information overload.

So is there a really a shortcut to online success?

Here is my solution to you

– Modeling

I love the phrase that I heard from Armand Morin which is “Success leave traces”. That means behind every success there will be traces that show you how the success comes about.

That where my “Modeling” solution comes about…

Case in point: Let say you want to learn build your business through list building model. Then what you want to do is to find the top 3-5 list building experts and sign up for their list and see what they do.

The secret key here is to observe what they do and model after them and not to do what they say. Observe what they do to build their list. Ask question like what tools and methods are they using for their business to build a huge list. Are they using twitter, article marketing, tell a friend script or teleseminar?

Write down note, screen capture each process you gone through when you sign up for their list or buy their product. I am sure you will learn a lot of thing doing that.

So when you start to do what I have mention above, I promise you that you will cut short your learning curve by at least 3-6 months and start seeing results that you always want to see.

Note: You want to stay focus on one business model and not keep switching around because each time you do that, you will be losing momentum.

As I am a stay at home mummy, I started out exploring internet marketing with my parenting blog – The New Age Parents. (http://www.thenewageparents.com) I use it to share my parenting experiences with fellow parents. I got to know a number of mummies who visited my blog and we gradually become friends.

It then inspired me to start up an online parenting magazine – Motherhood Monthly to share and reach out to more parents.

As a number of parents know me through my New Age Parenting Blog, launching Motherhood Monthly (http://www.motherhoodmonthly.com/currentissue) is a breeze as the parents were quite supportive of it. Within less than 2 months of launch, our face book group grow tremendously to going 2000 members, subscribers of more than 1000 and over 30,000 unique page views.

My magazine is a free subscription magazine. My revenues are mainly from advertising. It is not a sky high figure that I am earning now but a low end of 4 digits earning enough for me to pamper my children.

3. Share with us one obstacle which you have overcome and you have learnt a lot from it

The very first obstacle that I have is coming from my children. From a 24/7 mummy to a work from home mummy, I have to sacrifice some of my time with them and of course, my children voice out their objections through tantrum throwing and refusing to let me go out to work.

Moreover, during the preparation of the launch of the first issue of Motherhood Monthly, my daughter was sick for almost 2 months with rotavirus. I slept for only about 3 to 4 hours every night. It was tiring. From there, I learn to optimise my time and manage my time better.

The second obstacle, I am not a very frontline person though I use to be a financial planner for 2 years. However, I need to be the marketing person for the magazine as it was a one “woman” show. It does help in moulding my marketing skills which is an essential skill to succeed whether you are working or setting up your own business.

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with
others, especially those who find IM hard

IM is not only hard. I think it is extremely hard. I guess to succeed in IM, you have to know clearly what you want and what you are interested in. Do not give up easily.

I always know I want to be in the parenting niche and here I am now. It does take time to build. Do not believe in quick successes and earn money easy scheme. You are likely to be disappointed when you don’t see the returns. Handle it like a true business and manage it with your heart and soul.

5. Share with us about the uniqueness of one of your products.

Motherhood Monthly is an online parenting magazine whereby readers can read at their convenience. It is a free subscription magazine as I want to reach out the more parents. It is the first online magazine in Singapore with the feel of a hard copy format.

We treat our sponsors and advertisers seriously. We look into long term working relationship with them and see how we can help them create more awareness rather than just purely advertising.

Hello, my name is Joel Chue, from sunny Singapore. I’m heavily into search engine optimization, pay-per-click strategies for traffic to build my affiliate and internet businesses.

2. Share with us your first success in Internet Marketing and how did you do that

My first success was by creating a niche product in the “how to do well in school” market. It is basically a program to teach kids on how to excel in school, do better in their exams and actually really enjoy the entire process.

The concept was really simple. Find a hungry market and give them what they want. I did my first sale within 4 hours after I launched the site through Google Adwords as my traffic source.

When I did that first sale, I knew there’s money to be made and I could simply rinse and repeat this as many times as I like in other markets. So after that, it just snowballed… and I’m an “expert” in several niches today.

3. Share with us one obstacle which you have overcome and you have learnt alot from it

The major obstacle was really getting my priorities right. As an internet marketer, we probably have 1001 things to do everyday… but the most important thing anyone should do is to really focus on SELLING our product online.

For quite some time, I did not see my income growing despite being busy 24/7, weekends are also focus on doing Internet marketing (which I believe most readers are doing so as well).

So I sat down and started evaluating my actions and realized I’m just not focusing enough time on SELLING. So when I realized that, I started structuring my efforts to selling my stuff better and more often. And results happen… more money and other good stuff.

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with others, especially those who find IM hard

I strongly advocate the “hardcore” mindset for anyone who wants to succeed early. Pick one business model that you think you can do WELL, then pick another traffic strategy and just do nothing but scaling that business up.

So for example, you can choose the Review Affiliate Marketing system. Take 1 day to get your review site up, then do nothing else but write articles everyday to send traffic to your review site. Aim to make ONE sale ASAP (within 24 hours that be a good benchmark).

If 5 articles doesn’t get you a sale, then write more… or change your angle…be flexible but that doesn’t mean giving up early.

By being action and results oriented, you start seeing results (which is affiliate commissions), and in my opinion, that’s the best motivation anyone can get to continue with his efforts.

I overcame it by showing my naysayers the kind of multimillionaires I spent my lunch and dinner with as opposes to the “job mentality” people who spent their time with other job oriented people.

Analysis Paralysis. People spend too much time thinking of the perfect strategy, planning the perfect system, trying to learn every single detail before doing the required work. They will never succeed.

There is no such thing as a perfect anything(well maybe Angelina Jolie), just go and do what you are supposed to do instead of trying to learn all the theory which will never get you anywhere.

I learnt more about google adwords using it for a week than the two months I spend trying to learn everything about it from information products. That goes for everything in Internet marketing.

5. Share with us about the uniqueness of one of your products.

Make sure your products say what they do. Hype is fine as long as you can deliver. Don’t go sell a make money online product when you aren’t making any money online. That’s just stupid though I see a lot of people doing it.

I have always been a victim of my own life – living in an over cluttered lifestyle.

There are too many clutters, hurdles, unnecessities, extra things…the list is endless.

Now I am still suffering from it…(remember I am a human too, just like anyone else)

This post is about identifying the different clutters we have in our lives and how we can free ourselves off them.

#1. Refreshing your email Inbox every second

“Anyone guilty of this? Please raise your hands..yes high up!”

If you feel an urge to raise your hands up, you can stand in the same group as me.

I have over 10 email accounts ranging from hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail, mails of self hosted sites and blogs…plenty more…

It is a plague to have too many emails accounts.

Bad dog bad dog…I am referring to myself… :_(

I can’t believe another friend told me he has 20 emails…wowhoho..good luck to him…plenty of excuses to waste his time.

Now, I have learnt to be smart. I used my Microsoft Outlook Express and house all emails under one account and reply them from there.

Or you can do it in another easier way – stick to one email for personal and another one for business or other purpose.

At most 2 emails.

#2. Hey! my friend is online on Skype…so are my 35 other friends

Not sure if you encounter this before. You on your desktop, ready to complete an assignment or task.

Your Skype or msn is set to auto-on and your friend sent you a message when he saw you online.

Both of you started chatting. 15 minutes had passed. 1 hour had passed. 2 hours had passed.

Your friend went offline and for a moment you asked yourself why you on your computer in the first place.

Ok, now I learnt to be more disciplined. I do not power on my modem unless it is required.

Otherwise, I do not even install MSN or Skype in the first place.

Kinda of hard ah…

Ok, I disabled the auto-on or auto detect network mode.

Now I am safe…

#3 I know I have to do this…and that and this…so which one?

How many times I have experienced this?

I know I have to check my emails and ended up on my Twitter page checking for replies. And the next moment, a friend called and I am on the phone.

Times passed quickly and I have yet to check my email.

Too many distractions!!!! Stopppppppppppppppp!

Now I learnt to do a to-do list and prioritise them.

Here is how it works.

Assuming I need to check email, post some letters, create my blogging cheatsheet and hold a online conference with my partner in the morning.

I will label them from #1 to #4 and rank them from 1 to 4 in order of importance.

I will do the most important task and allocate a fixed amount of time for it.

By noon, I have to make sure I complete all the tasks and that is it.

So far, this daily routine has served me well and you can easily do this too.

Remember, too much clutter and disorder in our life can create a lot of time wasters. Live everyday uncluttered and prioritise your tasks well. Good luck!

Earlier this year, I have set a goal for myself to reach a 5 figure monthly income by 31st March. I am glad to say that I am just another $1000 to the 5 figure mark.

What I want to share here is not so much of how I am going to reach the target. More importantly, I am going to share about goal setting.

Goal setting is important if you want to succeed in a business. It does not matter if it is an online or offline business. It does not matter what kind of Internet Wealth system you use.

Business is business and you got to have a plan and a time line all lay out to meet your goal and target.

When I first created my blogging guide Bloggers Paycheck, I have set to achieve a $10,000 gross sale within 3 months.

Do I know how to go about doing that?

Seriously and honestly, no.

One thing I know I have a target set and I am going to do whatever it takes to achieve even if I have to bang my head against my keyboard at the end of the day to get my $10,000.

The number one reason why most marketers fail is they fail to plan and have an end in mind.

We got to plan with the end in mind. The end is where you want to be.

It could be tangible goals such as achieving $100 per day in 3 months’ time. Or it can be to have 3 hours free every night so that you can spend time with your children.

Goal setting is vital and should be the number one thing you need to do if you commit the making your dream of being a successful entrepreneur come true.

How often do we try to multitask and end up not doing a single thing well?

It is not easy to multitask, trying really hard to do every task well at the same time.

In the past, I used to do that and it could be really stressful since the day I started my internet marketing.

Trying hard to manage 5 projects within a single month, waking up early in the morning writing a 5 pages report while checking my emails at the same time…and expectedly, the quality of the report is not there.

Ever since I had been experiencing a certain tension in my chest, I stopped multi-tasking. I do one thing at a time and so should you.

I realise the benefit of doing one thing is that you can give your 100% attention on the presenting task.

And you can really do it very well when you put your heart and soul to it.

I know it is not simple to internalize this learnt habit as it took me sometime to learn that, especially when I could be really stubborn when come to taking advice. And I sometimes do many things at a time and you know that if you are following me on Twitter.

I know we are all here together on the side of the fence doing our best to create our better tomorrow. But when there is no health (or poor health), there is not going to be any tomorrow and I speak from a personal experience.

I had a friend who earned a 5 figure income per month and he worked really hard. One day, he didn’t wake up from his sleep and he is only 35 then.

In our journey of creating a better life for ourselves plus our families, we work really hard, and at most of the times, forgetting to take care of our health.

This is a BIG NO NO!

So what I want to say in this post is keep everything simple and you still can create your business development in a manner which can still achieve your goal by doing one thing at a time while keeping everything simple.
