Hi, I was recently approached by a friend who wants to go into online consulting. He showed me a website of a local shop selling ukelele, smaller version of a guitar.

I took a look and realised that though the website was marvelously done, it falls short of certain marketing elements which can be easily set up and by doing these can possibly increase the profit by another 20 to 50% within a short time.

Lately, my wife had been purchasing some baby accessories from online stores or blog shops set up by stay at home mothers. This interesting trend has also motivated me to explore their online shops. Most sites and blogs are professionally done. I am impressed. And at the same time, the following 5 simple ways can be easily implemented to bring them more profit and more returning customers.

1. Get your readers to sign up

Getting a repeated customer is always cheaper than getting a new one. This can be done by setting up an opt in box to collect your site readers (who are very likely interested in your site content) and your customers’ email address.

For someone to opt in, you need to have a bait such as gift which your potential customers want and find useful.

You can build up a database of potential customers and customers who have bought from you and send them newsletters or emails of your latest products or services.

One autoresponder service I used to create sign up forms and manage my database is Getresponse.

2. Getting them to tell a friend

The best marketing tool for you is always your satisfied customer. And I am pretty confident to say that in their own circles of friends, there will be at least one potential customer who may be interested in what you are providing.

What happens when this customer is recommended by her friend? Most likely she is ready to buy and there is no reluctance to purchase.

So always coupled it with tell a friend script and encourage your readers and customers to refer customers to you.

3. Upsell when your customers buy their first item

When a customer is ready to pay for something, she is already in the “buying” mood. And it is easy to recommend her something else which complements the first item she bought.

Remember how in Macdonald, the cashier will always ask if we want to UPSIZE our meal by paying slightly more. So business owners should always recommend a relevant item. Of course, not 100% upsell is successful but possibly 20 to 50 % of the customers may take it up and that means more money for you this month.

4. Setting up Facebook fan page

Now, almost everyone has a Facebook account and most Facebook users are online for more than 50% of the day when they can easily access through their iPhone applications.

And what is good about having a fan page is that you are building a community of fans who love your brands and by “Like”ing your page, it gets shown in their profile too and their friends get to know about your fan page too.

5. Reward your most loyal customers

It is interesting to know that most businesses do not reward their loyal customers. If you do some analysis of your buyers’ pattern, most of the sales could have come from this small pool of customers who repeatedly buy from you and could have contributed more than 60 – 80% of your profits.

Why not reward your loyal customer with a surprise gift or allow her to choose something she likes from your store? Or you can send her vouchers so she can buy more products from you at a special price. There are many possibilities. In fact, the point is to make your customers feel good so that she will keep on buying from you.

Ok, so how can you start building your list?

Before that, why do we always empahsize that you should build your list.

Your list is a group of subscribers who like your products and they are your best customers.

If they have yet to buy anything from you, they will, eventually.

Ok, I know you want to know how you can build your list.

In my coaching program, this is the 3 easy step approach I teach.

Step 1: Create a squeeze page for your freebie optin

You can create a simple report (of about 3 to 4 pages) and create a squeeze page like

Step 2: Build Traffic to your squeeze page

You can find your potential subscribers from all over the internet.

Participate in these channels and you will see people starting to opt into your list.

Step 3: Take part in ad swaps and giveaways

What are ad swaps? Ad swaps are cross promotions. You find a list owner of your niche and you ask him if you can do a cross promotion.

Sometimes, if you are a starter and you have no list, it is pretty hard. I admit.

So another sure fire way is to create a low end product – a $7 product and get an affiliate software which allows 100 per cent commission. This means that the list owner who promotes your offer get all the profits.

But they have helped you built your list.

This works and there are success stories of marketers selling 500 copies and building a list of 10,000 subscribers from scratch in less than 30 days.

Hey everyone there! My name is Dennis Sim, and I’m proud to be from the sunny side of the world in Penang, Malaysia. I’m a college student cum Internet marketer.

Well, my area of IM expertise would be affiliate marketing. I find affiliate marketing is the easiest way to make money online and require the least capital ($$) to kick-start my online business. I’ve also created a system for myself to capture targeted list and of course, to make unstoppable affiliate income as well. (I hate the PPC way :p)

2. Share with us your first success in Internet Marketing and how did you do that

I ventured into online marketing since Nov 2006. That was after I attended World Internet Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To be frank, I didn’t make a single cent in the first few months. But until April 2007, my ClickBank account notified me that I made my first affiliate sale and I earned $4.96 in commission! Haha!

I know $4.96 is nothing to anyone out there, but it’s something to me! This $4.96 shows me that making money online is possible! From there on, I concentrate in affiliate marketing and keep on learning from other top marketers.

How I did it? Pretty easy… I got myself some PLR articles and compiled into a report. I create my own squeeze page and give away the report for free. And you’re right, my backend was promoting that affiliate program. Just drive traffic to my squeeze page and I got the money!

3. Share with us one obstacle which you have overcome and you have learnt a lot from it

Being a perfectionist! I’m a perfectionist (till today) but I try NOT to when comes to business. Being a perfectionist is good because you want to make sure everything is good perfect to go. However, that will seriously harm your business.

Remember this, “Nothing Is Perfect”. If you always want to make your product perfect, it will take you forever! Because as I said, nothing is perfect, so how could you make it perfect? So, my advice is, when you think you product is GOOD to go, just go ahead! Then, you can keep on improving your product from time to time. Make sense?

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with others, especially those who find IM hard

FOCUS. Internet marketing is hard for ANYONE who keeps on looking for the next “opportunity”. This is the biggest mistake that most newbies make (including me when I started). Those who want to make money online, stay focused on one thing at a time.

Here I got a tip for you. Whenever you try something new, apply this principle. “Try Each Method For At Least 3 Times”. Let’s say you want to try affiliate marketing with PPC. Try one time, if failed, try again, and failed, try again! If really can’t make it, then only move on to the next one. If you make it, congrats! You’ve found your way to success!

5. Share with us one product/ service of yours which you feel is very unique

All my products are unique (HAHA!). To be frank, I rarely launch new product to the market and I will do it if I think it’s good to share with others.

My name is Fabian and I’m from Singapore…I’m known pretty much as a prolific article marketer and list builder in various niches. My areas of expertise are article marketing, list building and affiliate marketing.

2. Share with us your first success in Internet Marketing and how did you do that

My first success came pretty early in my Internet marketing career. The first step is always the first sale. Once you can get that first sale, your belief becomes stronger and you start taking more positive actions to reach your goals.

I still remember my first sale – it was a $20 Clickbank affiliate sale. I used Google Adwords to get that sale and I was probably about $15 in profit, so I was pretty happy with that at that time. In the next few days, I started having $100+ days and I started to belief that there was really lots of money to be made online. So that sort of gave me that confidence to go on and work at things.

3. Share with us one obstacle which you have overcome and you have learnt alot from it

The biggest obstacle personally for me was cash flow. I like to use a mix of paid and free traffic generation methods and the paid methods are all about how much money you can invest to increase your profits. If you put in $1 in a machine and it produces $2 every time, how many dollars would you put in? That’s a question often posed in Internet marketing courses and it resonates well with me.

So the thing I have learnt is to maximize your current resources and reinvest a portion of the profits into the business. If you maximize your resources, you have more cash to distribute back into marketing which increases your profits again. The secret to increasing profits is to improve the 4 major parts of business (number of leads, conversion rates, average profit per transaction, repeat purchases) by just 5% to 10% constantly.

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with others, especially those who find IM hard

The biggest thing is to find out your ‘Why’. Once your ‘why’ is very strong, you’re on the straight line to success. If you find out the reason why you’re going into Internet business, and it is a very strong reason, you will then take lots of positive actions (studying marketing, testing, creating products etc) that will take you to your goal.

For example, a reason might to be quit your day job. Or working just a few hours a day so you might be able to have more family time. I personally find that the successful marketers are those who had a very strong desire to strike out on their own, quit their day jobs and build a real business.

5. Share with us one product/ service of yours which you feel is very unique

I have a product called Article Insider Profits at http://www.articleinsiderprofits.com which shares my formula for article marketing success. It is not the usual article marketing product that talks about Bum Marketing. Instead, I talk about building a real business of your own on the back of article marketing.

Bum Marketing is more for promoting affiliate products, and I take that concept and turn article marketing into a part of a bigger whole, which produces greater long-term profits and brand name recognition.

So I feel that’s unique.

6. One project you are working on right now and you would like my readers to know

In addition to that, my other company Mentis Marketing produces and markets our own self improvement products too. And more recently we have ventured into selling internet marketing products.

2. Share with us your first success in Internet Marketing and how did you do that

I initially first started making money through eBay in 2004 after purchasing Jim Cockrum’s “Silent Sales Machine”. I was still studying in university then and was able to generate $2000-3000 a month selling both digital and physical products on eBay.

For the digital products, I would select hot selling resell rights products and sell them for a few dollars on ebay. Using unique listing strategies on eBay, I was able to sell over a few thousand digital products on ebay through a short period of time. But of course now you cannot sell digital products on eBay with their new rulings. But there are still ways around this. =)

But I would say that my real success came from my venture into the self improvement market. One of my first few websites is www.ChargedAudio.com , which retails subliminal mp3s and subliminal cds. The website started off earning only a few hundred dollars a month. But with the use of eBay, I was able to quickly generate a few thousand dollars a month.

What I did was to sell the subliminal products slightly cheaper on eBay. And then funnel each client back into the opt-in list for ChargedAudio.com and then continue marketing to them. Using this strategy, my website was able to gross a few thousand dollars within 2 months.

To date, ChargedAudio.com has over 10,000 clients worldwide and we constantly get new clients everyday.

Let me share a particular strategy that we have implemented that has worked very well for us.

I’m sure everyone is familiar that building a list is extremely important. As it gives you instant access to targeted prospects and clients. What we do is to usually offer a free report, ecourse or bait of some sorts to get the prospect to give us their name and email.

But we took it a step further by offering a free subliminal cd. You can view the opt-in page at http://www.chargedaudio.com/freesubliminal.html

We charge a low shipping fee of $2.99 to send them to cd and get them opted into our list. We do an One Time Offer (OTO) after that to maximize profits too. This strategy benefits me in various ways.

1. I create a higher perceived value for the opt-in bait compared to my competitors in the subliminal market. Where they give free reports or mp3s, my physical cd gives a higher perceived value.

2. I get to charge a small fee of $2.99 for shipping to separate the freebie seekers and those who are willing to commit. While $2.99 is a small sum, at least I know that this prospect has the potential to buy more products. Without saying my list generates very good returns whenever I make a promotion.

3. I still get to maximize profits by doing an OTO. Most marketers tend to forget adding an OTO to their opt-in process. Which is really leaving money on the table.

I must warn you though, our opt-in page is a bit old as we haven’t revamped it in ages. Maybe I’ll get down to doing that in awhile. ; ) But nonetheless it still works like a charm.

So long before the days of Russell Brunson or other Gurus were using the strategy of offering free cds with paid shipping. We’ve already been using it, but just using it in other niches. Your readers might want to consider using this strategy in dominating the competition in their niches.

3. Share with us one obstacle which you have overcome and you have learnt alot from it

Like every other internet marketer, I am constantly distracted with new opportunities. And it’s a matter of setting your priorities right and working on projects that give the highest return first. Especially when there are only so many hours in a day that you can work.

I’ve learnt to overcome this obstacle by firstly outsourcing work whenever I can. And this led to me hiring both full-time and part-time staff to help with the work.

What you can do is to use a portion your profits generated or some of your own money to hire a virtual assistant or part-time staff. Get them to work on areas that you are weaker in. This frees up your time to work on more productive and profitable tasks. Here are some areas that you should always consider outsourcing

- Graphic Design

- Article Writing and Submission

- Backlinks Building (social bookmarking/ web 2.0 setups)

- Website/Blog setup

Oh course at the start, you’ll start off outsourcing small bits here and there. But as your business grows. You’ll find it so much worthwhile to outsource this work.

Secondly, I use this methodology and system whenever I access new projects to take on. And based on the assessment, I’ll then decide which projects are good to go, and which should take a seat on the bench for the moment. Here are some questions I’ll ask myself regarding the project, which I rate from 1-5 (1 being real bad and 5 being real good).

1. How long would it take to get this project up and running?
2. How profitable is this project in the short-term?
3. How profitable is this project in the long-run?
4. Is this project synergistic with the existing projects I have?

Setup an assessment sheet and rate these type of questions whenever you want to take on a new project. Separate the duds from the winners and file them up. This way you would be able cut down the number of projects that you might be multi-tasking on.

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with others, especially those who find IM hard

Anything is possible. As long as you can dream, plan and take action.

Dream your big dreams, what you want to accomplish in life. Think of the material comforts that you wish to attain for yourself and your family.

Plan and set your goal. Be it to generate $1000 constantly in a month or $5000. Then start planning and working backwards to see what you need to generate this kind of money.

Lastly, take goddamm action. Too many internet marketers fail because they just don’t take action or take too little action.

Following this mindset, there just ain’t any way you cannot succeed.

Take action!

When I first started out, I was too absorbed with reading and buying the “latest new product”. Thinking that with additional knowledge, I would succeed faster. I’m sure many of your readers would be able to relate to this.

Well in my opinion. Knowledge is not power.

Only “Applied knowledge is power”.

Making money online is actually rather simple. Learn from one or 2 proven experts and stick to their system. Take action and implement their strategies. Give it a while for results to show. Sometimes results can take 1-2 months to show but don’t give up.

Soon you’ll see yourself making a few hundred dollars a month, then it’d snowball into a few thousand…and pretty soon you’ll see yourself making a 6 figure income easily.

But you have to take action for all this to happen.

Only when you started making money, then spend a bit of your time to invest in your education in purchasing the latest new product. What I do on a daily basis is to read for 1 hour a day new internet marketing material. This allows me to keep up to date with the latest strategies, but more importantly it also ensures that I have time to take action on the activities that actually yield money.

So remember, take action today!

First of all, what qualifies me to talk about this topic here? Well, anyone can talk. So, I should instead answer the better question – Why should you listen to me?

Let’s see. I’m a successful affiliate marketer. While I wouldn’t classify myself as a “Super Affiliate”, I am the top affiliate for a number of programs and one of the top 10 affiliates for a number of others. I earn affiiate checks from a variety of programs like Clickbank.com, CJ.com, Amazon.com, Linkshare.com – as well as many privately-run programs, too.

I’m also an affiliate manager, and have been since 2006 which means that I run affiliate programs, too. My main client is Jimmy D. Brown (check out our affiliate program at www.Infoprofitshare.com). While managing the InfoProfitShare.com affiliate program, I receive many of the same questions day after day from struggling affiliates. So, I see affilliate marketing from both sides of the coin, which I feel gives me a unique perspective to help you.

When talking with John, he said that the demographics for this blog as far as readers go were bloggers who understood the basics of affiliate marketing, but who were not seeing a full time income from it yet. I’ll assume that many of the readers here are earning under $1000/month with their affiliate marketing efforts. So, that’s who I’ll be talking to this week. However, if you are earning less – or more, this information will still be valuable. I promise.

Back to intermediate level. I am going to have a very difficult time keeping this down to only 5 ways to boost your affiliate income, but I’m going to try to keep it short and concise so you can choose a few of these ideas and run with them without overwhelm.

On that note, let’s begin. #1 Way to Boost Affiliate Income: Money is in the List.

The #1 way to really increase your affiliate income is by growing a responsive email list of some sort. Now, I’d prefer to start with the easiest method of increasing your affiliate commission, but everything else hinges on the fact that you have a list. Without it, the remaining methods will all be less effective. They’ll still work, but it’s just harder all around without a list. So, starting a mailing list is key.

You only need three things.

1. A website or blog. I’m assuming that’s something you already have.
2. An autoresponder or mailing service. That handles all of your messages, making sure they are delivered, follows all SPAM laws and keeps things running for you while you’re on vacation.
3. Valuable Content. You obviously need a good topic and great info to keep people opening your messages. You can buy it, write it yourself, outsource it, or even borrow it from affiliate programs.

Once you have this in place, everything else will suddenly become easier. You’ll have a list. A list gives you clout and negotiating power. A list gives you cash on demand if you treat your readers well and build a relationship with them. A list gives you a boost in your affiliate income.

I use this example all the time, but it’s because it’s true. Let’s say you have two visitors to your website, Sally and Mary.

Sally comes, looks around, enjoys the content of your blog, posts a comment and leaves through an affiliate link. She may buy or not. Let’s say she does and you get $10. Yay!

Mary comes, finds your list signup where you promise to deliver more valuable information about your niche topic. She signs up and sees an incredible offer on your thank you page and buys it. You earn $10. Yay!

So, what’s the difference? The difference is that I haven’t mentioned their last names yet.

Sally Single – You’ll earn $10 one time from her one single time, because you have no way to bring her back. She’s off like most readers to find the next shiny thing on the ‘net.

Mary Multiple – You can feasibly earn money from Mary forever if you treat her right. Mary signs up, not expecting anything great, but you “wow!” her with valuable content as well as recommendations for products that she really wants. Mary grows to love you and buys just about everything you recommend because she trusts you.

1. Please introduce your name, who you are, which country are you staying in and your area of IM expertise

I’m Ron Douglas from Traffic Sage.. I’m a New York born Internet Marketer, Author, and Search Engine Marketing service provider. I’m proficient with many aspects of IM, but I’d have to say that my expertise is using leverage for website promotion and list building.

2. Share with us your first success in Internet Marketing and how did you do that

I started in IM back in 2001. I was just trying to make money promoting other people’s products. I was an affiliate. A friend of mine I went to grad school with graduated and began working for a company that marketed cell phones for AT&T. He pretty much introduced me to e-mail marketing.

We kind of partnered up early on in my career and we were trying to figure out ways to make money online. In the first two or three years, we didn’t really make much. I actually had an Internet marketing make-money product back then in 2002. I wasn’t making any money yet, so you can tell that didn’t sell too well. I decided I needed to find a different market.

I kind of stumbled across a niche, to be honest with you. One day my wife and I were interested in trying to figure out how to make Kentucky Fried Chicken at home. We began surfing the Internet looking for recipes and found out that people have a big interest in trying to figure out how to make their favorite restaurant dishes at home.

I thought to myself, “This would make a great e-book to put on ClickBank. So I began gathering and testing recipes. The first ebook I put on ClickBank had 11 recipes. It was like a cooking ebook, but it was called America’s Most Wanted Recipes. It was kind of mysterious. They weren’t regular recipes; they were secret restaurant recipes. That was kind of like my USP; my Unique Selling Position.

To my surprise, people liked it and affiliates started picking it up and promoting it. From there, I started getting a lot of traffic and I started paying a lot more attention to it. Eventually, that ebook became a real cookbook with 125 recipes. It’s been #1 on Clickbank’s Marketplace in the cooking category since 2004.

To this day, I’ve sold over 50,000 of those cookbooks. It did so well as a self-published title that I was able to get a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster. They gave me a six-figure sign on bonus and plan to release the title in bookstores in July 2009.

That’s basically how I got started and how I started to build a big Email list early on. I also built a community because I saw how many people were searching for these recipes online. It was a hobby for a lot of people, especially people who work at home: stay-at-home mothers just trying to cook a meal and find new recipes of something exciting to make and something to brag about to their friends. They could say, “Look! I made Olive Garden lasagna.” It was just a hobby for them.

So I created a forum where people can come and share their test results from testing these recipes. That’s how I got a lot of the recipes for my original cookbook. Today, this forum has 75,000 members and a lot of active members that post every day. The forum began getting me traffic from the search engines because of all the user-generated content that was posted in the forum. Then I would build my list and feature things in the forum just to get the forum active. In my e-mail newsletters, I would tell people, “If you want this recipe, go to the forum.” The forum really became active. Today I get a lot of traffic from the search engines and from very little content that I posted myself.

3. Share with us one obstacle which you have overcome and you have learnt a lot from it

I’m an introvert by nature and for many years I operated my business “on an island.“ I discovered that it’s so much easier to make money when you create alliances and collaborate with others. It’s important to get away from your desk sometimes and make a point to get out and meet people. You’ll find that the best ideas come from interaction with other like minded people. Forums and mastermind groups are great for this, but attending seminars and meeting people face to face is even better.

Another point to consider is that email is the most common form of communication in IM. If you want extraordinary results that are not common, you should expand your communication efforts beyond just email.

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with others, especially those who find IM hard

IM is not hard, it’s just marketing. There is no copyright on marketing process – find out what works from successful marketers and do the same thing. The difficult part in my opinion is finding a product or service that people want to buy and that affiliates want to promote. If you can do that, the rest is easy.

Many people waste time marketing products that don’t have good potential to begin with. If you’re competing with 1,000 others in a market that has small dollar potential, you can expect to make small dollars. You want to go after the markets that have many buyers and lots of big dollar potential. That alone could be the difference between a 6-figure business plan and one that barely make ends meet.

The same thing holds true if you try to do everything yourself – there’s only 24 hours in a day.

To really reach the true potential for your IM business, you have to use leverage. Some examples from my experience are:

- Creating a system to get user generated content, instead of trying to write your way into the search engines

- Leveraging the motivated efforts of others by having an affiliate program and a product that does well for affiliates who promote it

- Leveraging the profitability of a product to have an advertising budget, get traffic, and build your list

- Leveraging your email list to survey ideas for new products and to have a platform for launching new products related to your subscriber’s interests

- Outsourcing revenue generating work such as traffic generation, content creation and marketing, link building, social media marketing etc. to services such as Traffic Sage.

Learn to work on your business instead of making yourself an employee who works in your business. It’s honorable to work hard and work lots of hours, but working smarter can produce more money with less effort.

When I first started off, my mentor told me to create an e-book from scratch so that I can sell it. At that time, I didn’t know much of using other people’s content. And neither did my mentor.

One of my first successes is basically building a local community and car club (www.bmw-sg.com) based purely out of passion, and took a pretty long time (over 9 years and counting to date) to build it up to the close-knit community it is today.

Basically i followed my passion, and it wasn’t because of the money. I simply enjoyed pulling people in together to share information and enjoyed interacting with people online. I started from building a website and forum and pulled members from a hosted-forum network (delphiforums.com) over to help jumpstart bmw-sg.com

Today, the site has generated me a wealth of friends and business contacts, experiences, comfortable recurring income (from advertising) and fulfilling one of my biggest passions, cars at the same time.

The thing about the internet is that, the internet is not made out of websites. It’s made out of people. Put your shoes in the mind of your people (i.e. your customers, fan base) and find out how you can cater to them better.

I used to believe that tweaking my website to my own liking was the most important thing. Although it is to some extent, open your website to suggestions and criticism from others as well. You can easily be blind to your own creations (and mistakes even).

4. Share with us one mindset tip you would like to share with others, especially those who find IM hard

Honestly, what’s worth getting and achieving doesn’t come easy. Everything is hard if we don’t go headfirst into it.

Be truthful with yourself and give yourself some time to achieve a small result. Earning your first dollar is the hardest step, after that the first hundred..and so on. Incremental steps are essential to work to a bigger result, and even then, that takes time and effort.

Never give up, always take action, take note that you’ll always trip and fall from time to time, and all of those are the actual recipes for your “success”. Seek help from others who are along the same path, help others, make contacts and believe in yourself, your future and dreams (that will actually happen).

Okay, so the last two paragraphs were general must-have mindsets.

The money winner is FOCUS. FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS on the most crucial stuff on hand.

My products are always community based as I strongly believe that people are always the strongest drivers for a proactive, recurring community. I usually leverage on social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Forums to push and promote my products (and sales come usually from that).

Working on an automotive social site. Still in the works, but once it’s out, I’m sure i’ll have my close partners let their friends know about it. Right John?

While you always hear about IM being about profitable, lifestyle, freedom etc… it can easily lead to you being delusional about being rich in a short time. You MUST align yourself with your interests, passions and find out how you can make money around that using IM for the long term.

Build relationships first and foremost. This holds true not only for your customers but also with

This is something that I’ve repeated over and over again and I shall repeat it here once more. That is TAKING ACTION. Looking deeper into that, its taking FOCUSED ACTION. That means concentrating on one task, one method, one product at a time. But most importantly, DO SOMETHING.

If you asked me a year ago, I might not believe this. But when you ask me right now, I can tell you a definite “Yes!”

Lately, thanks to Calvin Woon, a great friend of mine, who gave me an opportunity to join a Joint venture contest organised by him for his blog submitter software.

It is a great software on how you can submit your blog post link to a blog carnival and get backlinks with more traffic back to your own blog.

This is my first time joining such a contest.

Initially I did it with the attitude of gaining experience.

The result for such a contest was terrific for me.

I was ranked number 2 in his contest!

It was really an eye opener for me and it is definitely a very enriching experience.

So what do I want to share here?

No matter what niche you are in, you got to build your list.

Why?

With a list, you can keep on helping your customers, adding great value to their lives and providing them great info.

So how can you build your list?

First you need to get a reliable autoresponder service like GetResponse.

Once done, you can login and start collecting emails and names by having a opt in box at your sidebar.

In exchange for your subscribers’ emails and names, you can create a free report, article and ebook as a form of bait.

Again, this is a gradual process and all you need to do to start having a 4 or even 5 figure list is to start today – Right Now!

I have some questions on how to create a report which can be offer as a freebie for people to opt in.

I should tell you exactly what you need in a report.

1. A cover
2. An about me page
3. A table of content
4. Content (which is the body)
5. A final thought
6. An upsell of your product or service

A cover page can consist of the title of the report.

An about me page can consist of a short description of who you are, how you started in your niche and any credential will be helpful. Some readers will be interested in getting in touch with you. Leave a contact email there too.

A table of content will tell the reader where to find what he wants.

Content is important. You need to make your content scanneable. Have headlines, subheadings and page number for easy readability.

A final thought to round up the content.

An upsell in the promotional page. Tell the readers what other product or service he can get from you and bring them to a download page.

A report can be around 5 to 30 pages. So that is all for now.

It is always easier to get your loyal readers to return than to find completely new readers.

There is already a sense of bonding with your readers and so it is right to continue to build that relationship. Remember, the eventual outcome is to turn your readers from readers into paying customers.

With a list, you can also ask questions like what their needs and wants are. Then, your product/ service can center around that, rather than having to guess what they want/ need.

How to ask?

You can do an “ask campaign” and ask them what their needs are so that you can better serve them. You can also start off asking these questions:

1.What are the challenges they are facing?

2. What kind of info do they need and they find it hard to get?
